Hadosan Carpet & Handcrafts Center is located right in the heart of Cappadocia, constructed on 3.46 acres of land in 1996. Besides presenting authentic hand knotted masterpieces and award winner collections, Hadosan has a mission to promote the traditional carpet making culture with educational activities and handcraft workshops.
Rug weaving is an art. All our collections are woven by hand following the traditional methods for centuries and passed down through generations. A single hand-knotted rug roughly takes about five to nine months to make, depending on the materials used and preferred knot density. Visit our center to witness and experience the process of weaving with our professional local weavers and meet our exclusive collections.
Anatolia has been home to numerous civilizations and cultures. Each civilization has left a trace in arts and handicrafts generating an invaluable variety. Each piece reflects this multicultural touch in the forms, shapes and colors used throughout the weaving process. Visit our store to discover our collections and learn about the art of authentic carpet making.
Sourcing high quality raw materials is a crucial step in carpet making process. The wool and silk we use are precisely selected from the local market to preserve the authenticity and quality of each masterpiece we present.
Once the wool is hand carded in traditional wooden carding paddles, a yarn is formed to be used in weaving process. But first, the yarn needs to be dyed in order to attain those authentic and attractive colors.
Weaving is a special form of art in the region, passed down through generations. The weaving step of the total carpet making process is a long haul and takes four to nine months; even a year for some specific designs.
Once the carpet is completely woven, it is removed from the loom and placed on the floor for the final step which is cutting. The edges of each color patch is precisely cut to enhance and give your rug the final aesthetic look.
Along with an exceptional landscape and adventurous activities, Cappadocia is also a unique destination to discover traditional handicrafts and various forms of art. Carpet making is one of the oldest handicrafts in the region. Hadosan is in Ürgüp, the crossroads of major cultural activities, sightseeing tours and handcraft ateliers.
In the beginning of the 19th century, the rugs woven in Hereke gained worldwide recognition. These rugs were originally woven only for the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire.
Hadosan is a store that presents a variety of high quality authentic Anatolian rugs and handcrafted accessories.
